A head-on collision in Cherry Burton near Dorchester has claimed the life of a 36-year-old woman from Moncton.
RCMP responded to the crash between a car and an SUV on Route 106 shortly after 3 p.m. on Wednesday.
Police say the woman was the driver and lone occupant of the car and she died at the scene.
The driver and lone occupant of the SUV was taken to hospital with what are thought to be serious, non-life threatening injuries.
Mounties believe the collision occurred when the driver of a westbound SUV crossed the centerline and collided with an eastbound car.
An RCMP collision reconstructionist is assisting with the ongoing investigation and speed is believed to be a factor.
