Canada is expecting a shipment of 2.3-million doses of Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine.
They are set to arrive this week.
That comes after Chief Public Health Officer Dr. Theresa Tam said on Friday that modelling shows we could be in for a fourth wave.
She says we may be seeing the beginning of a surge because of the more contagious delta variant as provinces reopen.
While federal officials announced last week that Canada has enough doses to vaccinate all eligible Canadians, Tam says more young people between the ages of 16 and 39 need to get vaccinated to prevent a surge in cases.
“As soon as that balance is tipped, and it wouldn’t take very much with a highly transmissible virus, you’re going to see an uptick in cases,” she said at a press conference.
