It is New Brunswick Day and that means many places normally open on a Monday will not be.
Grocery stores, malls, and big-box stores are all closed for the day, including Sobeys, Atlantic Superstore, and Walmart.
If you need a prescription or sunscreen, some drug stores will be open for reduced hours.
NB Liquor and Cannabis NB stores are also closed, but agency liquor outlets will be open.
Banks, post offices, and all government offices are all closed today, which means no mail delivery.
The Saint John City Market is closed today and there is no transit service. Garbage and compost collection in the city will follow its regular schedule.
If you are unsure if something is open, it is best to call ahead.
Meanwhile, the province is partnering with the City of Fredericton and St. Mary’s First Nation for this year’s official New Brunswick Day celebration.
A special focus will be on Stepping Forward for My New Brunswick – a celebration of how far the province has come since the start of the pandemic.
Several events will be taking place with fireworks being launched from the Westmorland Street Bridge between 9:45 and 10 p.m. to wrap up the day.
The opening ceremonies from the legislature lawn will be livestreamed between 3 and 5 p.m.
