Before heading to an emergency department in New Brunswick over the long weekend, the Horizon Health Network is asking everyone to consider other options for non-urgent care.
Horizon says emergency departments remain extremely busy and trauma and critical care patients are prioritized.
Residents are asked to only visit the ER if it is an actual emergency otherwise long wait times can be expected.
If you do have an emergency, call 911 or head to an ER and officials say emergency, critical and urgent cases will always be treated as quickly as possible.
Other options to consider include speaking to a pharmacist or primary health care provider, visiting an after-hours clinic or calling TeleCare 811.
