Wayne Gallant, the chief of the Kennebecasis Regional Police Force, is set to retire this fall.
Gallant confirmed to our newsroom on Thursday that his last day on the job will be in October.
“I have offered whatever help the board needs with the transition to a new chief,” Gallant wrote in an email.
Gallant first joined the Kennebebecasis Regional Police Force in Nov. 2017, becoming its eighth chief.
He said the Kennebecasis Valley has been a “great place to be chief” over the past four years.
“Outstanding communities, dedicated employees, and I am happy with what we have been able to accomplish over the last four years,” said Gallant.
The Kennebecasis Joint Board of Police Commissioners is wasting no time looking for Gallant’s replacement.
A job posting for chief was shared on the force’s social media pages Thursday morning.
The board is seeking someone with at least 20 years of “progressively responsible” law enforcement experience, including three years of management and senior management experience.
KRPF has 39 sworn police officers, six civilian staff and a “significant” complement of volunteers, according to the job posting.
“The organization has undergone significant organizational and cultural change,” it said. “Much work has been done to foster employee well-being and resilience. Great emphasis has been placed on building collaborative partnerships within the community.”
Applications for the force’s top job are being accepted until Sept. 1.
The search is on for a new chief of the Kennebecasis Regional Police Force.
