If you have plans to camp tomorrow night, you’re probably going to get a little wet.
Elsa is expected to track across New Brunswick as a post tropical storm.
Meteorologist with the Canadian Hurricane Centre Bob Robichaud says the storm is expected to intensify a little bit as it moves towards New Brunswick, “What we are looking at right now is the storm tracking just somewhere near Fredericton and heading towards the Northeast from that point on. So areas to the North of that track, that is where we anticipate the heaviest rain.”
Robichaud says the heavier downpours will be late Friday into Saturday…
“Overall, generally we expect around 40 to 60 millimetres. There are some localized areas north of the track that could be in the 50 to 100 millimetre range.”
He adds there could be some high wind gusts as well for certain regions.
Robichaud says, “Areas that are adjacent to the Bay of Fundy could see gusts of 70 to 80 kilometres, which at this time of year, if you were out camping,. you want to have everything pretty secure.”
Tropical storm #Elsa continues to maintain tropical storm strength as it moves into the Carolinas. Elsa will track across Atlantic Canada Friday night into Saturday as a port-tropical storm. Latest information at: https://t.co/WAiJuojVFu 🌀 pic.twitter.com/YfvFJkVRaB
