The City of Saint John announced this week it has updated both its public Emergency Notification System and E-notification System for residents.
The renewal allows residents to receive municipal alerts and information directly from the City of Saint John.
The emergency alerts can be distributed through email, voice and text through a notification system operated by the Saint John Emergency Management Organization and the city to communicate urgent public safety notices.
The City has also upgraded its E-notification system to allows residents to stay informed about various information and updates through regular email notifications.
The introduction of the new systems follows the recent revamping of the new City of Saint John website in February along with other key online services restored following what city officials called “a significant cyber-attack” last fall.
The Nov. 13 online attack affected the city’s website, putting a halt to online payment systems and virtual customer services offered at the time.
Residents who had previously signed up for the City of Saint John’s prior information notices will need to re-subscribe to each of the new systems.
Registering online allows users to be notified additionally about Closures and Cancellations, Construction Updates, Emergency Advisories along with other public notices and information released by the city.
Those interested can subscribe by visiting the City of Saint John’s website.
