Candy Depot is coming to Saint John this summer, opening a location at 358 Rothesay Avenue.
Owner Stephane Leblanc says the store has grown in leaps and bounds since first opening in Moncton in September 2019.
“It was a mixture of being the next right move, plus the availability to be able to go in there and get a space without too-too many renovations,” says Leblanc, adding that they wanted to make sure they selected a spot that was easily accessible for families, with lots of parking.
The Saint John location is currently in the process of hiring staff and putting together a small setup for opening. An opening date has not been fixed, but Leblanc estimates they will open in July depending on deliveries and an absence of COVID delays.
“It’s really our selection that differentiates ourselves – we search high and low for everything, and we also do a lot of imported food items that people are looking to buy in Canada,” he said.
Leblanc has already been selling many of the products found at the Moncton Candy Depot location, online, with its website now offering over 5,000 candy items in stock on a regular basis, along with limited items, and Canada-wide shipping.
“Opening up to the rest of Canada definitely gave us some opportunity to expand to other markets and grow our sales that way,” said Leblanc. “Now the store is busier than ever, you go to our Moncton store on a Friday or Saturday/Sunday and you’ll usually be met with a line-up outside to wait to be able to come in.”
