The East Coast Music Awards (ECMAs) will be returning to Fredericton for the first time since 2008. The announcement was made during last night’s ECMA show in Sydney, Nova Scotia.
The musical celebration will run five days from May 4 to 8, 2022 and will feature over 55 performances and events throughout the city.
According to a release from Tourism Fredericton, the ECMA Conference and Festival generates between $3 and $6 million in economic activity to the city and province. It is expected to feature 500 performing artists representing over 200 bands and bring in upwards of 14,000 visitors from across Atlantic Canada.
“We look forward to celebrating the accomplishments of our world-class regional talent and honoring the winners of the 2022 East Coast Music & Industry Awards next spring” said Mayor Kate Rogers in the release. “We can’t wait to have everyone join us in person, in Fredericton to showcase Atlantic Canadian music talent to the world and to host of one of Canada’s top music events. It will certainly have an impact and lasting legacy on the music community.”
The East Coast Music Awards features awards presentations, performances, and workshops. This will be the festival’s 34th year.
“We’re very excited to head back to Fredericton for the 34th annual ECMAs,” said Andy McLean, CEO of the East Coast Music Association. “Known for its lively spirit, its deep roots in music and culture, and its undeniable hospitality, we’re looking forward to working with the host team in Fredericton to create a memorable and successful week for music fans, performers, and the entire community.”
