Quispamsis residents will be able to take a dip in the pool at the qplex this summer.
Mayor Gary Clark announced Tuesday night that the outdoor pool will open on June 12.
But Clark said there will be some changes this year due to the ongoing pandemic.
“Capacity this year is limited to 150 people, so to guarantee admission, people must register online in advance,” said Clark.
The pool remained closed last summer as strict restrictions on public gatherings at the time made opening the pool impractical.
Despite having a capacity of 400 people, the town was only permitted to have 50 people in the pool at once last summer.
“If we are restricted to 50, take out lifeguards and staff, all of a sudden you are looking at generating 10 or 12 per cent of your normal revenue so financially it just wasn’t feasible,” Aaron Kennedy, the town’s communications manager, said in an interview at the time.
Clark also announced Tuesday that the town is moving forward with plans for regular summer activities, like Movies in the Park and Music in the Park.
All pandemic protocols will be followed as provided by Public Health, he said.
