The general manager of McAllister Place says they don’t believe there was a high risk of COVID-19 transmission following a public exposure of the virus last week.
Public Health issued three warnings of potential exposures on Saint John’s east side shopping district, including a pair of notices at the mall on April 8 and 9.
Paul Johnston, the mall’s general manager, said they were contacted by health officials over the weekend who indicated mall patrons and staff were not at “significant risk.”
“Given the low-risk nature of this notice, McAllister Place has not been required to make any changes to the precautions that have been in place for well over a year,” Johnston wrote in an email.
Johnston added the exposure notice provided a good time to remind residents of Public Health guidelines put in place to protect residents from transmitting the virus.
“We would like to take this opportunity to reiterate the importance of following all public health guidelines for visiting public spaces, which include, but are not limited to, practicing proper hygiene and physical distancing, wearing a mask, and most importantly, staying home when one is feeling ill or displaying symptoms.”
