Steve Woodin has announced he’ll run for council in Saint John’s Ward 1.
The west side resident says he’d focus on fixing the basic needs of the city, like fire and policing, road repairs and public transit.
In a post on his Medium page, Woodin says basic service calls are 99 per cent of council’s purview, and candidates should not be running on provincial issues like rent control or new schools.
Woodin says his primary focus would be Saint John’s transit system, which he believes is ‘utterly broken.’
He believes fixing the transit system would allow the city to grow by enticing new business, encouraging population growth, and help all groups including low-income residents and seniors.
Saint Johners will cast their ballots on May 10.
