A Saint John business owner wants a seat around the Common Council horseshoe.
Steve Henderson owns a business in Ward 3 but lives in Ward 2 so he’s joined a group of six declared candidates hoping to serve at large.
His priorities include affordable housing, tax reform and transit improvements.
When it comes to first responders, Henderson said the service provided by these individuals is “exceptionally important to Saint John”.
He noted the questions which come up about their role in the budget adding without access to the full details of the budget, he couldn’t say that we are in a position to increase funding.
“At the same time, from a social perspective, we cannot afford further cuts to the service. Balancing the needs to service and available funding is going to come back to working with the province on municipal tax reform.” Henderson said.
Henderson thinks municipal government is the level that directly affects our day-to-day lives.
