We are in for the third round of heavy rain in less than a week.
Environment Canada has issued a rainfall warning for the Fundy coast, including Saint John and St. Stephen.
Forecasters say a slow-moving system will push rain into southern New Brunswick on Thursday morning.
Jill Maepea, a meteorologist with Environment Canada, said the rain will likely stick around into Friday.
“We are expecting the heaviest rain to fall in the southern portion of the province, those areas along the Bay of Fundy, where up to 60 millimetres is possible,” Maepea said.
Areas like the Kennebecasis Valley, Sussex and Fredericton are under a special weather statement from the national weather agency. They are expecting 25 to 50 millimetres of rain.
Unlike previous weather systems over the past week, Maepea said winds will not be as gusty as with previous storms.
“We are expecting the strongest gusts to be probably in the Bay of Fundy area, but we’re only really expecting up to 70 kilometres per hour, whereas some of the gusts from the last system almost approached 90,” she said.
Forecasters are watching the possibility for more rain this weekend, but Maepea said it likely will not be as significant as this one.
