In an effort to help shed light on some of the poor road conditions Maritimers encounter on a daily basis, CAA Atlantic has kicked off its 10th annual Worst Roads Campaign.
Communities have a chance to head online and vote for a road that they believe is concerning.
“If there is a road that’s been driving you crazy or that you avoid at all costs you can rally together and get a bunch of people to vote for this road,” said Julia Kent, Director of Public & Government Affairs, CAA Atlantic
The campaign started in 2010 allowing for Atlantic Canadians to vote for the road that they believe is the worst and provide the government with a forum to understand what changes need to be made.
“Year after year we have seen those roads fixed by the next campaign,” said Kent.
Poor road conditions are not limited to just potholes or paving issues they can be traffic congestion, unsafe bike lanes, unusually long lights or any other problem you face while driving.
Although the campaign was cancelled last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, in 2019 five different New Brunswick roads made the list.
1. Tripp Settlement Road, Keswick Ridge, N.B
2. Waterford Road, Waterford, N.B.
3. Markland Road, Colinet, N.L.
4. Indian Meal Line, Torbay, N.L.
5. New Brunswick 905, Petitcodiac, N.B
6. Meadowville Station Road, Pictou, N.S.
7. Witless Bay Line, Trepassey, N.L.
8. New Brunswick 480*, N.B.
9. South Uniacke Road, Mount Uniacke, N.S.
10. Pine Glen Road, Pine Glen, N.B.
Maritimers can vote for as many different roads as they want but are limited to only vote a specific road once a day.
STOP! Did you know any and every road in Atlantic Canada is eligible to be named Worst Road?
