A partnership linking kid-friendly organizations will see more recreation options for youth in Grand Bay-Westfield who historically have been underserved.
The River Valley Community Center board is teaming up with the Saint John Boys and Girls Club to offer programming three days a week.
Recreation committee co-chair Brittany Merrifield says it includes leadership and STEM programming and a Friday-night teen drop-in.
“Not just middle school age, those high-schoolers are welcome. That will be more of an informal drop-in with games, arts and crafts and general hanging out,” Merrifield said.
Merrifield said they just want to be able to offer “a safe, inclusive space for youth in the town”.
She said she’s very thankful they have been able to develop this relationship with the support of the board.
“I can’t wait to see what happens. I guess just ‘watch this space’ because we have more coming,” Merrifield said.
