Public Health announced the 28th COVID-19-related in New Brunswick on Tuesday.
The individual was a resident of the Manoir Belle Vue residential facility in the Edmundston region.
The province also recorded four new cases of the virus, all found in the Miramichi region. Before today’s update, the region had just one active case.
The four cases in Zone 7 (Miramichi region) are as follows:
- an individual 20-29;
- two people 50-59; and
- an individual 60-69.
One case was confirmed at the Miramichi Valley High School and members of the community have already been notified.
A confirmed case in Zone 7 was also presumed to be the U.K. variant, according to testing done by Moncton’s Dr. Georges-L-Dumont University Hospital Centre’s microbiology laboratory. It will be sent to Winnipeg’s National Microbiology Laboratory for confirmation.
Another reported case of the U.K. variant found in Zone 4 the Edmundston region is no longer seen as a case of the variant. Discrepancies noted by the Moncton facility resulted in a more testing that caused the case to no longer be considered the variant.
Since yesterday, three people have recovered for a total of 1,370 recoveries. There have been 28 deaths, and the number of active cases is 36.
Three patients are hospitalized and are all in intensive care.
