New Brunswickers could be in for some extreme winter weather this Family Day.
Environment Canada has issued a special weather alert for the entire province, saying a slow-moving system is set to cross the province Monday evening and could last through Tuesday evening.
In southern parts of New Brunswick, including Saint John and Moncton, they are calling for 5-15 centimeters of snow Monday night, giving way to ice pellets and frozen rain early Tuesday morning.
Snowfall is expected to continue into Tuesday in northern areas of the province.
The special weather alert does note the system is in its early stages, and could change before it arrives in New Brunswick.
