New Brunswick saw more do-it-yourself movers coming to the province than leaving in 2020, according to data from U-Haul.
The moving company ranked New Brunswick and British Columbia as the top growth provinces for DIY movers.
U-Haul arrivals rose by nearly 23 per cent year-over-year in New Brunswick compared to nearly eight per cent more departures.
It is a big turnaround from 2019 when New Brunswick was last on the list, seeing more departures than arrivals.
Meanwhile, Saint John ranked as the No. 25 growth city, with arrivals accounting for 52 per cent of all one-way traffic.
People coming to Saint John in one-way U-Haul trucks increased 16 per cent during the past year, while departures rose only one per cent from 2019.
U-Haul says while its migration trends do not correlate directly to population or economic growth, the data is an effective gauge of how well cities are attracting and maintaining residents.
Growth cities and provinces are calculated by the net gain of one-way U-Haul trucks arriving in an area versus departing from that are in a calendar year.
