A month’s worth of rain could fall in parts of New Brunswick over the next day or so.
Weather Network meteorologist Michael Carter says an intense low pressure has tapped into deep tropical moisture.
“What you’re going to see with this system is much more of a fall-like system than maybe we would expect this late in the season,” said Carter.
Environment Canada is calling for 80 to 120 millimetres of rain for much of southern and central New Brunswick, but extreme southwestern regions could receive 180 millimetres.
Carter says the storm will also bring tropical air with temperatures soaring into the mid-teens.
He adds it is possible some new record highs will be set this week.
“It certainly is possible with these surges of milder air that come with these late fall storms, we can get up into the mid-teens, believe it or not,” said Carter.
Carter says the abundance of rain in such a short period of time could create flooding problems.
