Public Health reported 15 new cases of COVID-19 in New Brunswick today.
11 of the new cases were discovered in the Zone 2 Saint John region, three cases were found in the Zone 1 Moncton area, and a single case was discovered in Fredericton Zone 3.
The province also announced another death related to the virus, bringing the total to seven since the pandemic began.
“I offer my sincere sympathy to the family of the deceased, and I want them to know that all New Brunswickers grieve with you today,” said Dr. Jennifer Russell, the province’s chief medical officer of health.
According to a release issued by the province, the death was an individual in their 80s in the Saint John region.
The Saint John and Moncton regions remain in the orange phase of pandemic recovery. Dr. Russell says they are still investigating the outbreaks in those regions.
“While we have a number of active cases still under investigation, we have not yet confirmed whether cases related to the ongoing outbreaks represent untraceable community transmission,” she said.
There are now 89 active cases in the province, and no patients are currently hospitalized with the virus.
