The largest family-owned and operated bakery in Atlantic Canada has announced its expansion plans for Moncton.
Based in Sussex, Mrs. Dunster’s intends to open a new bakery on St. George Boulevard by the end of the year focusing on making fresh baked breads, rolls, pastries and pizza shells.
A future phase includes a Mrs. Dunster’s retail store at the same location.
Co-CEO Blair Hyslop says the new bakery and store will eventually add 50 to 60 jobs to the company’s current staff of about 200.
Co-CEO Rosalyn Hyslop says the expansion is a direct result of more people in Atlantic Canada choosing to buy local food.
“Over the past few years, we’ve seen a dramatic rise in the number of customers choosing to buy food made by local companies. These trends, combined with the commitment and dedication of our team of awesome employees who work hard to bake yummy food everyday, have made this exciting project possible.”
Mrs. Dunster’s has received support from Opportunities New Brunswick and a repayable contribution of $750,000 from ACOA (Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency).
