Two more deaths related to COVID-19 have been recorded in New Brunswick, bringing the total number of lives lost to six.
Public Health confirmed the deaths on Sunday as individual in their 70s in the Moncton region and another in their 40s in the Campbellton area
Health officials say both people died because of underlying complications, including COVID-19.
Premier Blaine Higgs offered his condolences to the families and says today’s news is a heartbreaking reminder that we all must do everything we can to slow and prevent the spread of this disease.
The province’s chief medical officer of health, Dr. Jennifer Russell, says the impact this virus is having on all of us is indescribable.
“Kindness and compassion, along with strict adherence to two metre distancing and mask use are how we will get through this together,” she says.
The province also reported two new cases of the virus, one in the Campbellton region, the other in the Fredericton area.
Both individuals are self-isolating and their cases bring the number of active cases to 65.
There are currently four people in hospital but none are receiving intensive care.
