The COVID-19 outbreak at a special care home in Moncton is impacting the city’s emergency departments.
Residents are being urged not to visit the Emergency department at the Moncton Hospital and the Georges Dumont Hospital unless absolutely necessary.
The departments will remain available for those presenting with urgent, critical or emergent medical conditions but those experiencing non-urgent symptoms can expect long wait times.
However, the Horizon Health Network and the Vitalite Health Network issued a joint statement for patients to seek alternative care options.
This can include contacting your family physician or pharmacist, visiting an after-hours or walk-in clinic or by phoning Tele-Care 811.
An increase in COVID-19 cases in the Restigouche area, certain services temporarily closed in Dalhousie and visits have been suspended in Campbellton
Vitalite has announced the restriction as a precautionary measure to protect patients, visitors and employees.
The network confirms that 18 of its employees from the Restigouche region are currently in isolation, either because they have COVID-19 or were found to be close contacts through Public Health’s contact tracing.
Visits are cancelled at the Campbellton Regional Hospital with the exception of obstetric, pediatric and palliative care, which are allowing one designated visitor per patient.
Patients who will receive medical assistance in dying are allowed to have two designated visitors but only one is allowed in the room at a time.
There is also a temporary reduction of certain services at the St. Joseph Community Health Centre in Dalhousie, including blood work and certain ambulatory care services.
