The MLA for Hampton did not change on Monday night with the re-election of Gary Crossman.
COVID-19 changed the way his campaign operated with a stronger focus on social media and mailing out candidate information where they couldn’t go door-to-door.
On election day, he spent time visiting the various polling stations which he found safe and organized.
“They had areas taped off and people went through safely with [ everyone] wearing masks.
I think we not only led the way in the province but across Canada for how to start it up safely because we need to learn to live with the COVID pandemic until there is a cure for it,” Crossman said.
Crossman said the riding includes a lot of rural areas where it’s a struggle to find good internet service.
“With people working from home during the pandemic and high school students with laptops trying to work from home. That’s a big issue,” Crossman said.
He said the PC party has a plan to improve rural internet service over the next two years.
Crossman held a muted celebration at home on Monday night given the pandemic restrictions.
Great evening at the Lupine Night Market taking part in the meet the candidates of the Hampton Riding.
