The MP for Fundy Royal says the federal Conservative party needs a new focus now that a new leader has been chosen in Erin O’Toole.
Rob Moore said Conservatives across the country need to pull together no matter who they supported in the leadership race.
“We now have a common challenge and that is being a very effective official opposition and being prepared for the next election to provide a strong alternative to the current government,” Moore said.
Being in a minority Parliament, Moore said the possibility of an election always exists.
He thinks everyone knows the WE Charity scandal dogging the Trudeau Liberals is the real reason parliament was prorogued.
“Every Canadian, no matter if you are a casual observer of politics, or you follow it very intently they know that’s why Justin Trudeau prorogued parliament,” Moore said.
Moore thinks former finance minister Bill Morneau was a scapegoat for the WE Charity scandal, saying someone had to be thrown under the bus and it’s not going to be the person at the top.
He said the Liberal sense of entitlement “knows no bounds”.
“The WE scandal is just the prime example of that. They look at charity as a way not to help others but as a way to feather their own nest,” Moore said.
