Joe Biden has selected his running mate for the 2020 U.S. presidential election.
California senator Kamala Harris is the first Black woman to be nominated for national office by a major party.
The 55-year-old lawyer and former Democratic candidate for president also has a Canadian connection — she graduated from a Montreal high school in 1981.
Biden and Harris are expected to accept the party’s nomination next week.
I’ve known Senator @KamalaHarris for a long time. She is more than prepared for the job. She’s spent her career defending our Constitution and fighting for folks who need a fair shake. This is a good day for our country. Now let’s go win this thing. pic.twitter.com/duJhFhWp6g
