Health officials in Prince Edward Island are reporting one additional case of COVID-19.
The province’s chief medical officer says the new case is a man in his 40s who is a health care worker in the emergency department at the Queen Elizabeth in Charlottetown.
Dr. Heather Morrison says the man travelled outside of the Atlantic bubble.
She also provided more information on a case reported Sunday.
It is a woman in her 80s in the same region who went to the hospital earlier this month.
“Because she went to the hospital by ambulance, she had no contact with anyone in the QEH waiting room, also she was in a private room. As she was not displaying any symptoms of COVID-19, she was not tested for COVID-19,” she says.
Dr. Morrison adds the woman has been very vigilant and always wore a mask.
P.E.I. currently has eight active cases of COVID-19.
Meanwhile, New Brunswick health officials have reported no new cases of COVID-19 for the fourth straight day.
One active case of the virus remains in Zone 3, the Fredericton region. It’s a travel-related case involving someone in their 40s.
Nova Scotia also reported no new cases for the fifth straight day. Three active cases remain in that province.
