The student loan application for the upcoming school year is now available.
This application is for New Brunswick residents enrolled in programs starting between Aug. 1, 2020, and July 31, 2021.
Applications should be completed as early as possible to ensure student’s funding is available for the beginning of their studies.
Post-Secondary Education Minister Trevor Holder says one application enables students to apply for programs offered by both the provincial and federal governments.
Holder says despite the stress caused by the pandemic, the department is ready to help students navigate their financial assistance options.
There are several types of assistance available to help students access post-secondary education, including loans, grants and bursaries.
As well, the 2020-2021 provincial budget has lowered interest rates on the provincial portion of student loans to the prime rate, from the prime rate plus 2.5 per cent.
Additionally, the provincial and federal governments’ six-month interest-free student loan repayment moratorium announced in March is coming to an end.
