Nova Scotia RCMP say their investigation into a fatal dog attack in the Halifax area is complete, and confirms that the woman was killed by her dog.
The incident happened on June 9th.
Officers responded to a report of a possible dead woman in Middle Musquodoboit and a dog was near her.
Police say evidence, witness statements, and the dog’s past known history of violence led to the determination that the 38-year-old woman was walking her dog when it attacked her.
A report from the province’s Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed that the woman died as a result of injuries caused by her dog.
The release says there was no criminal intent associated with the death of the pit bull, which was struck and killed by a passing motorist.
Police concluded by noting that anyone making threats to people in person or online is an offence, and officers will investigate and lay charges if warranted.
The death sparked heated debates about breed-specific legislation.
