Hundreds of people took to the streets of downtown Fredericton on Tuesday for a Black Lives Matter rally and march.
It was the latest in a series of protests taking place in cities across the country to denounce anti-black racism.
Participants gathered at City Hall and marched throughout the city’s downtown chanting “Black Lives Matter”.
The protest, which lasted for about two hours, was described as a “peaceful gathering” by Fredericton police.
It came just over a week after George Floyd, an unarmed black man, died in police custody in Minneapolis.
His death has led to protests, some which have turned violent, in dozens of cities across the United States.
Two more protests and gatherings are expected to take place in Fredericton on Wednesday.
