There’s a new partnership between the four Atlantic provinces.
The Atlantic Canadian Women in Growth Partnership combines four groups aimed at improving the economic power of women in business.
Katherine Lanteigne, the director of Women in Business New Brunswick, said the partnership is expected to last for three years.
“This is a first that we are really collaborating and we’re working on a common project and the whole goal of this project is to basically share best practices. We’re also looking to increase the participation of underrepresented groups,” she said.
Lanteigne said the first step is evaluating what programs are there to see if there’s any overlap beforehand.
“They’re looking to see what other programs exist, and we want to make sure that we’re finding the gaps, and the goal is to really fill those gaps,” she said.
Lanteigne said it’s important to make sure women and minorities have supports in business because this will boost the economy.
“There’s so many barriers that women entrepreneurs face and even more so if they’re in an underrepresented group and we want to make sure that we give them all the tools, that we’re there to help them really succeed to start their business, or to grow their business,” she said.
Lonteigne said it’s great to be able to bring something that works well in another province to New Brunswick.
