The data services technology company T4G, which has offices in Saint John and Halifax, has been acquired by Calgary-based MNP, one of Canada’s largest national accounting, tax and business consulting firms.
Co-founder Geoff Flood, who lives in Rothesay and has joined MNP as part of the acquisition, says it’s a great opportunity for both companies.
“Over the last few years, MNP has made significant investments in new technologies and we’re proud that they recognize the value T4G’s team will bring to their clients,” said Flood in a release.
“The MNP and T4G teams will bring complementary skills to each others’ tables that will fully round out the range of solutions we’re able to offer our clients and the marketplace. We couldn’t be happier about joining the MNP family.”
MNP says the move enhances the company’s ability to help its clients succeed through digital transformation and by unlocking the value stored in their enterprise data.
Founded in 1996 by Flood and David Posluns, T4G helps businesses collect, organize, and use their data to drive growth, gain competitive advantage and increase market share.
MNP was founded in 1958 and now more than 85 locations and 5,500 people across the country delivering diverse services in accounting, consulting and tax, as well as specialized expertise in every sector and area of business.
The firm has invested heavily in Atlantic Canada, starting with its merger with Dartmouth-based firm WBLI, at the start of 2017, and through four further mergers with firms in Sydney, NS, and St. John’s, NL, this year.
Jeremy Cole, MNP’s executive vice president for Ontario, Quebec and Atlantic Canada, said the acquisition will strengthen the company’s presence in the region.
“The Atlantic Canada marketplace is a growing and diverse economy that has seen increasing investment in recent years,” said Cole in the release. “We’re delighted to be a part of the communities in Dartmouth, Truro, Sydney and St. John’s, and are looking forward to further expanding our footprint into the Halifax and Saint John areas.
“Atlantic Canada is already recognized across Canada as a technology hub and we believe that our acquisition of the T4G business will help us find more opportunities to work with the rich sources of talent that exist in this field, right across the region. That, in turn, underpins our ability to continue to develop new and innovative ways of helping our clients achieve their objectives.”
