The New Brunswick man who founded the Pizza Delight restaurant chain has died at the age of 75.
Bernard Imbeault passed away at a Moncton hospital Wednesday after suffering complications from a stroke.
Imbeault helped grow Pizza Delight from a single take-out restaurant in Shediac, N.B., to a multi-brand network of more than 300 restaurants called Imvescor Restaurant Group.
Imvescor — which also included restaurant chains Baton Rouge, Mikes and Scores — was sold to Montreal-based MTY Food Group for $247 million in 2018.
Imbeault received numerous awards and honours, including the Order of New Brunswick in 2008 and a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Conseil économique du Nouveau-Brunswick in 2012.
He was also inducted into the New Brunswick Business Hall of Fame in 2005 and Atlantic Business Magazine’s Top 50 CEO Hall of Fame in 2007.
According to his obituary, Imbeault also enjoyed numerous hobbies, including tennis, skiing, golf, pickleball, bowling, cards, pool and Parkinson’s boxing.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
