Two of the presumptive COVID-19 cases in New Brunswick are linked to the University of New Brunswick’s Fredericton campus.
Paul Mazerolle, president of UNB, said the cases are “directly related” to the first travel-related case in the province.
“UNB is working with New Brunswick Public Health to support contact tracing and is taking all guidance and direction from them,” said Mazerolle in a statement.
Mazerolle said the university is transitioning to essential-only services over the next couple of days as recommended by Public Health.
“I recognize the anxiety and uncertainty the recent message from New Brunswick Public Health is creating for members of our community. We must take these actions to help limit interpersonal interactions that can allow the virus to spread,” he said.
New Brunswick currently has two confirmed and five presumptive cases of COVID-19, with all but one connected to the first confirmed case.
