Hockey Canada has announced that in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, all sanctioned events by the organization will be put on ice until further notice, effective Friday.
The governing body of the sport here in Canada says that includes everything from practices to upcoming national championships.
Hockey Canada CEO Tom Renney and COO Scott Smith say that the decision came after much consultation, and that while it’s difficult to process the hockey season ending so abruptly, they feel that it’s the best course of action to keep everyone safe.
