An alleged impaired driver was stopped near the police station on Millennium Drive in Quispamsis on Monday night.
Cpl. Tom White of the Kennebecasis Regional Police Force said police were alerted to a driver with a potential suspended license.
White said when officers pulled the vehicle over, it was the right vehicle, the wrong person, and the driver was also impaired.
If stopped while driving with a blood alcohol concentration level between 50 and 80 milligrams per 100 millilitres of blood, your vehicle is impounded for three days and your license is automatically suspended for seven days, which also appears on your driver’s abstract as a short-term license suspension. That will also impact insurance premiums.
If caught driving with a suspended licence, you face an additional minimum 12-month suspension and $500 in fines.
The driver was released and will appear in court at a later date.
White said on March 7, two also drivers also blew over the blood alcohol content limit of 80 milligrams, which is an automatic three-month suspension of their license and impound of their vehicle for 30 days.
“People aren’t getting the message,” said White. “But at the end of the day, the education is out there.”
