Here is a sure sign that spring is just around the corner.
Spring weight restrictions for truck traffic begin Monday in southern New Brunswick.
“These weight restrictions ensure that our road infrastructure does not suffer damage during the annual frost and thaw cycle,” said Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Bill Oliver in a statement.
“We provide this notice to the trucking community to allow them to reduce their loads or plan alternate routes during this period.”
The weight restrictions are expected to continue until May 17, depending on weather conditions.
According to the department, the duration of the restrictions is determined by monitoring weather conditions and tracking the progress of the thaw, using sensors located around the province.
In northern New Brunswick, weight restrictions begin a week later on March 9 and continue until May 24.
