A 33-year-old man from Saint-Édouard-de-Kent has been charged with first-degree murder.
Last Friday, members of the Richibucto RCMP responded to a report of a sudden death at a home on Route 515 in Sainte-Marie-de-Kent
Upon arrival, police discovered the body of 67-year-old Elias Bastarache and determined the death to be a homicide.
A search warrant was conducted at a home in Saint-Édouard-de-Kent earlier this week and a 33-year-old man was arrested in the nearby community of Dixon Point.
Marcel Savoie appeared in Moncton Provincial Court on Friday and was charged with first-degree murder.
He was remanded into custody and is scheduled to return to court on March 27.
