The City of Saint John is reminding residents of parking restrictions, especially during the winter season.
It comes after a Saint John resident raised concerns about recent changes to parking.
In a statement, the city addressed how its use of alternate-side parking allows a solution for vehicle owners who do not have regular access to off-street parking.
The schedule applies to day and night parking and changes over on the first and the 15th of the month.
According to the release, residents living in certain north, east and west areas of the city previously followed a plan which allowed for parking on both sides of the street during the day and changed overnight, however, day crews had difficulties with snow removal.
According to the release the city can also temporarily ban overnight parking on certain areas so city crews can push snow back to the curb on all streets.
Any areas affected by a parking ban is specified by the city and must have vehicles moved off it overnight.
The city announced Friday it will begin enforcing the new alternate side parking rules after a month-long education period. Vehicles not parked according to the rules risk being ticketed and/or towed.
