With the coronavirus becoming more and more of a concern worldwide, the Trudeau government says it is monitoring the situation in Canada.
Health Minister Patty Hajdu is trying to reassure Canadians the risk of getting the coronavirus remains “very low.”
She says the fact there are several cases in Canada under further examination shows “our system is working.”
“I feel assured that the processes that we’ve put into place that we’ve learned since the experience of SARS some years ago are actually functioning just as they should,” notes Hajdu.
The health minister indicates there are screening measures at Canadian airports, but “as we work with our international partners and we determine more about the virus and the level of contagion, there may be more measures that we need to take.”
