A chance to honour another historic Canadian is on the horizon.
The Bank of Canada wants input from Canadians for the upcoming new $5 bill.
Central Bank governor Stephen Poloz announced the overhaul of the bank note during a speech to a business audience in Vancouver on Thursday.
Sir Wilfrid Laurier, Canada’s first francophone prime minister, is currently featured on the $5 bill.

Poloz said the bank will launch public consultations for the design of the note, similar to the way they approached the $10 bill revamp that led to the selection of Viola Desmond.
“This time we’ll be asking all Canadians to nominate any historic Canadian, someone who is really bank notable,” Poloz said.
More details will be released later this month.
