Enrollment is up across in the Anglophone South school district.
Superintendent Zoe Watson says finalized numbers from the province show 23,163 students attending the district’s 70 schools.
“Over the last few years, we have been seeing some years with slight declines. The district did drop below the 23,000-student mark two out of the last four years” Watson said, “we are seeing a slight increase this year and that is good news for us.”
It amounts to an additional 260 students throughout the district’s schools located between Sussex and St. Stephen, N.B.
In St. Stephen, the smallest of the education centres, 103 new pupils started school in the region.
The smallest increase came at the Hampton education centre where only 17 new students were added.
In Saint John, N.B., the largest of the education centres, 140 extra students enrolled this year.
