A new poll shows the vast majority of Atlantic Canadians support mandatory vaccinations for school aged children.
Narrative Research has found nine in ten respondents to their survey are in favour and support is consistent across the four Atlantic provinces.
Women are more likely than men to be supportive.
A controversial bill was introduced in New Brunswick this year which would require all children in schools and daycares to be vaccinated with only a medical reason as an exemption.
The growing number of measles and whooping cough cases in the province has ignited public debate.
Some are challenging mandatory vaccinations citing a violation of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, but Narrative Research CEO Margaret Brigley adds these groups are clearly the vocal minority.
Narrative Research polled about 1500 adults in Atlantic Canada by telephone from October 31 to November 22.
