Geoff Reagen has been unseated as Speaker of the House.
Liberal MP Anthony Rota from the Nipising-Timiskaming riding in Ontario will become the new speaker following an election from his peers.
He defeated two Conservative candidates, Bruce Stanton and Joel Godin along with Carol Hughes from the NDP.
Rota has experience in the role as he served as a deputy to Reagen for the last Parliament.
Reagen who represents Halifax West first took his role as speaker back in December of 2015.
