The House of Chan has opened its fourth location in the Saint John area at McAllister Place on the city’s east side.
“It was a natural fit for us, to set up a location in the McAllister mall,” says co-owner Greg Moase. “It’s located in the food court, where people can sit down and get some quick food. We have the buffet set up there and you will be able to build your own combos. You can also get take-out and Beyond Delivery, but it will mostly be catering to people in the mall shopping.”
The McAllister Place location is part of a period of growth for the House of Chan. In the mid-1990s, owners Ken and Holly Singh opened the first location in Brunswick Square, and the trio opened the Quispamsis location in 2014 and Millidgeville location in 2018.
Familiar and favorite dishes will be offered at the new location, from Yellow Thai Curry to Chinese chicken balls, egg rolls and fried rice.
“Similar to the Brunswick Square location, we will have a buffet where people can build their own combos or they can order off the menu,” said Moase.
Opening a House of Chan at the McAllister Mall is also smart branding, says Moase. As Saint John’s central east-side mall, many people go in and out of its doors which could lead to more exposure.
“I think it’s kind of good to have our presence there. If my customers stop by House of Chan while at McAllister then they might stop at the Quispamsis or Millidgeville location,” said Moase.
