The third session of the 59th session of the legislature opens on Tuesday afternoon in Fredericton, N.B.
Mental health will likely be one issue discussed in the new session.
Premier Blaine Higgs spoke about it at a recent event in his riding of Quispamsis, N.B.
“Right here in this region, we have seen some very difficult situations. We need to figure where the issues are and the foundations of these problems. Across the country it’s a challenge,” Higgs said.
Higgs also expects carbon pricing and Cannabis NB to be subjects discussed in the new session.
“I have said that we are looking at our own carbon-pricing model but, doing that in a way that makes us comparable and competitive with our neighbouring regions here in Atlantic Canada. There will likely be further discussion on that but, we are moving in that direction,” Higgs said.
He also expects the whole issue of Joi Scientific and NB Power will get “adequate air time.”
