Halloween is tomorrow and NB Power wants to make sure it’s a safe day for everyone.
Many will be putting up decorations, some that may require electricity.
NB Power spokesperson Marc Belliveau says it’s important to have the proper wiring.
“If people have the wrong type of wires it can actually cause shortages, fire or outages inside your house and so on so you’ve got to check if you have the proper equipment when you decorate your house,” says Belliveau.
Belliveau also suggests getting a ground fault circuit interrupter plug that will trigger off if something’s not right.
“We always suggest that people check their decorations very carefully to make sure there are no frayed wires on them and that the plugs they are using are rated for the type of decoration you’re using outside,” he says.
Dry leaves and grass can be a fire hazard if you have any frayed or broken wires.
Another thing he says to watch for is loose wires so trick-or-treaters won’t trip on them.
