The Mayor of St. George is taking a leave of absence to recover from a stroke.
In a post to the town’s Facebook page, Crystal Cook says she suffered from a stroke in January, and spent a month in the hospital before transitioning to an outpatient rehab.
Since then, Cook says she had been feeling unwell until a recent MRI confirmed she’d had another stroke.
Cook says while she returned to her mayoral duties after her first hospital stay, she stretched herself too thin, and doesn’t want to risk doing the same during this recovery.
Cook also says loves what she does, but politics has “taken a toll” on her.
