Weeks away from the unveiling of a new monument on Harbour Passage, the Loyal Company Association committee along with former and current members and reservists leaving a mark on the site in the form of a time capsule.
The Commanding Officer of 3rd Field Regiment, Lieutenant-Colonel Wayne LeBlanc, says this project is dedicated to New Brunswick’s soldiers, sailors and aviators who answered the call to serve.
“It is for all of us, so we invited current and former members of the military community to join us on the site this afternoon to see the work in progress and mark their names in history,” Leblanc said at a ceremony on Wednesday in Saint John, N.B.
The time capsule is a shell casing that will be buried at the site which will also see the installation of a 105mm gun deployed in a battle position.
The gun will be capable of traversing to point in the direction of the various wars and deployments which the Loyal Company has participated in since it was formed in 1793, beginning with the Boar War in 1889 to Afghanistan.
Saint John architect Malcolm Boyd designed The Gunners Monument called “Standing Ready”.
It will be revealed at a ceremony on November 9th, 2019 at 11:00 am.
